Guest Speaker: Jo Howard
Jo is a social worker and family therapist. She currently works as a Consultant & Trainer, specialising in adolescent and adult family violence. Jo has worked across a number of sectors and in a variety of positions including front line worker, executive manager and clinical supervisor. She has been a Board Member of No To Violence in Victoria.
She has been a leading Australian practitioner in the area of Adolescent violence in the home for the last 25 years. In 2007 she gained a Winston Churchill Fellowship to research best practice responses to adolescent family violence in the U.S. and Canada.
Jo has a strong focus on strengthening client agency and systems change. She brings a lens of intersectionality to all her work. A key focus has been working with those who may lack a ‘voice’ including young people, sole parents and families, and across family violence and adolescent violence in the home. Jo has authored or co-authored multiple articles and books including contributing to ‘Working with Adolescent Violence and Abuse Towards Parents: Approaches and Contexts for Intervention’.
